Golf will make a comeback at Tamarack, opening date set for Osprey Meadows

It has been nine years since the last official round of golf was played at Osprey Meadows at Tamarack. Thanks to a restoration project, the resort’s golf drought will end soon.

In the Fall of 2021, BoiseDev told readers that Tamarack’s ownership had struck a deal to revitalize the abandoned Osprey Meadows golf course and bring back operations. The deal gave Tamarack back control of the 15 holes that were owned by Idaho-Pacific.

The following spring work began and now Tamarack has announced it will be complete for a grand opening in July 2024. The course originally closed in 2015.

Resort owner Gabriel Navarro told BoiseDev during a tour this summer that the revitalized course will include the traditional 18 holes, but there will also be an extra 19th hole that sits near the current Osprey Meadows Lodge that golfers can use for a little extra fun or an informal wager.

Tamarack President Scott Turlington said the course has been reconfigured from its previous layout, adding the extra hole and other changes. The resort hired the course’s original firm – Robert Trent Jones II to “improve playability” and maximize views.

The Osprey Meadows course runs through two terrains. Tamarack’s description says one of those landscapes features wetlands, lakes, streams, and flower fields. The other is high grounds lined with pines.

“The solution to these challenges created a golf course that journeys between these two zones, using such design features as doglegs, split fairways, wetland cross hazards, dramatic waterfalls, and occasional island-style greens and fairways, as well as bridges and boardwalks, to tie the golf holes into a consistent whole,” the website said.

In the meantime, Tamarack plans to open limited play on multiple holes for both guests and homeowners in mid-September.

There are also several new home sites opening up, including what the resort calls Ponderosa Ridge from Eagle firm Alturas Homes.  The homesites sit between the lake and Tamarack Village areas along the golf course.
