‘Iconic’: Cougar Mountain Lodge listed for sale

You might think of it as the “halfway point” between Boise and McCall. Or the place with the permanent patron on the corner bar stool. Or just a spot to stop and enjoy a prime rib dinner.

Maybe you could think of it as — yours. The Cougar Mountain Lodge in Smiths Ferry is for sale, according to an online listing.

Located at Idaho 55 and Smiths Ferry Dr. along the Payette River, the lodge has stood for nearly 90 years on the road linking the Treasure Valley and the McCall area.

Patrick and Stacy Willis bought the lodge in 2017.

Now, they’re looking to sell.

The property and business are listed for $1.6 million.  It includes the 2.3 acre site, main lodge building and a storage barn. Cougar Mountain includes seven lodging rooms, as well as the 68-seat restaurant and convenience store.  The property also has 800 feet of frontage on the Payette River, the flier notes.

“Few Idaho establishments are more iconic than the Cougar Mountain Lodge,” the marketing flier said.” Nestled into an idyllic setting along the Payette River and Highway 55, Cougar Mountain Lodge is conveniently en route to Cascade and McCall, two of Idaho’s most popular mountain destinations. The full-service restaurant and convenience store are a popular stop for thousands of tourists and recreationists year-round.”

The Willis’ have worked to remodel and revamp the lodge in recent years, including a new bartop and updated menu, the listing said.  The lodge closed for a time last spring for renovations, as BoiseDev reported.
