New project with woodsy cabin-esque condos proposed for McCall

More development could be on the slate for McCall.

Application documents filed with the city show the Dawson Trails subdivision is planned for a little under 4 acres of land. Currently, 19 buildings are planned for the 159,389-square-foot subdivision.

The early plans for the subdivision show nine single-family homes and 20 duplex-style townhomes. Four of the units in the subdivision would be deed-restricted to local residents, and short-term rentals would be prohibited completely.

The plans also show 8′ multi-use pathways throughout the development and connecting to Fir St.

The documents filed with the city show the subdivision is planned for a section of land sandwiched between Wooley Ave., Davis Ave., Louisa Ave., and Spruce St.

The landscape plan says the developers intend to preserve and protect existing trees where possible. There are multiple mature pines on the property. Additionally, it plans to plant additional coniferous trees and aspen trees throughout the property.

A public hearing before the McCall Area Planning and Zoning Commission for the project has been rescheduled several times. McCall City Planner Brian Parker said the reason for these continuances is due to outlying issues with the design of the subdivision — including the planned road alignments and the exterior design of the buildings — which the developers are seeking to fix after meetings with the city.

The current design for the structures on the property shows woodsy, cabin-esque condos in neutral colors. Parker did not say what changes to the design city staff wanted to see.

Dawson Trails is now slated to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission at its Oct. 1 meeting.
