P&Z approves McCall brewery expansion

Expansion plans for one of McCall’s three breweries were approved last week by the McCall Area Planning and Zoning Commission.

The approval allows Broken Horn Brewing Company to build a roof over an existing outdoor deck on the south side of its building at 201 S. Mission St. About 600 square feet of space will be added to the brewery once construction is complete.

The new roof will replace a temporary dome used by the brewery during the winter to keep the deck open.

“We do feel that the time has come to upgrade that,” said Bob Dodge, who owns the brewery.

The expansion will also include a new paver patio west of the deck along the brewery’s Mission Street frontage, according to plans.

The paver patio could eventually be expanded south once funding allows, Dodge said.

Broken Horn Brewing was built in 2012 and is open Thursday through Monday. The brewery hosts musical “jam sessions” on Mondays at 5 p.m., trivia on Thursdays at 6 p.m., and live music on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
