Editor’s note: Drew is enjoying some vacation time, so we’re running a few ‘best of’ stories. The BoiseDev team will be monitoring for news in his absence. Spitfire is set to open today. Here’s our earlier story.
After Bistro 45 moved out last fall, we now know what’s next for the lakefront space underneath the Yacht Club in McCall.
Spitfire Tacos and Tequila, which secured both the space and a liquor license, will be opening in August.
The new McCall location comes just a few months after owners Scott Slater and Todd Ketlinski opened Hemlock Steakhouse in Downtown Boise in May. The first Spitfire Tacos and Tequila location opened in Downtown Eagle in December 2023.
Tacos on the patio
“Nothing pairs better than tacos and tequila with a patio overlooking Payette Lake. We were fortunate to secure one of the few liquor licenses in McCall – along with one of the best lakefront views in town,” Slater said. “Our partner, Todd Ketlinski, has a residence in McCall and has always wanted to bring one of our favorite concepts to the community he loves.”
Slater says at first, the McCall location’s menu will be nearly identical to the Eagle location’s menu, with a variety of taco, burrito, and tequila options. He says they plan to adjust the McCall menu over time.
“As always, we’ll listen to feedback and evolve accordingly,” Slater said. “That said, we do have something new up our sleeve: a private backroom experience we’re calling ‘The Shrine.’ It’ll feature its own design, energy, and a few exclusive menu items.”
Spitfire in McCall will be open year-round with lunch and dinner service to start. Slater says next summer, they’ll open for breakfast, serving their Earlybird Breakfast Burritos.
“It’s been even bigger than we expected,” Slater noted of the response from the community so far. “Todd and his family have been getting stopped constantly around town.”
