New bookstore fills gap left in McCall

The Barn Owl Books opened last fall, filling the void left by the closure of Blue Grouse books when it was acquired by Albertsons Companies as part of the purchase of McCall Drug.

Mike and Amy Cooper opened the store in Alpine Village in September. It features the usual selection of fiction and non-fiction tomes, plus a number of books by Idaho authors and themed to central Idaho. A selection of children’s books and Idaho gifts are also available.

The store also includes a community room with readings and events.

Summer hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-6pm, and Sundays noon-4pm.
