McCall city council approves multi-million dollar improvement plan for golf course

The McCall city council approved a plan for improvements to the McCall Golf Course.

The course master plan estimates $3.7 million in total work. Eric McCormick, the golf course director says the most notable improvements are updated cart paths and crossings, rebuilding existing tees and adding additional forward tees, rebuilding bunkers and enlarging and rebuilding greens and upgrading the irrigation system.

“The upgrades would keep the aging course competitive with surrounding courses and help handle the 30,000 plus rounds it handles in five months of operations,” he said.

The master plan largely focuses on the age of the course and how a lot of items that need upgrading haven’t changed in years.

The master plan lays out three priority project sections broken down by cost and area of the course. Each of the three areas, Aspen, Birch, and Cedar, have total improvements costing a little over a million. The practice facility needs less work done and estimates a total improvement cost of $244,590.

McCormick says funding for this multi-million dollar project is coming from grants, McCalls Men’s and Women’s Association’s funds, local option tax, Capital Improvement Funds and net revenue from operations.

There is not yet a timeline for the project, as it is in the early stages.
